Bodega Colome is the oldest working winery in Argentina, first founded in 1831. Vines planted for this wine come from the Finca La Brava vineyard (set at 1700 meters) the Colomé vineyard (at 2300 meters) and the El Arenal vineyard (2600 meters). The wine was aged 15 months in French oak barrels, prior to bottling and also sat an additional six months in the bottle. This wine opens with rich aromas of blackberry, mocha, anise and black olive. It becomes more layered and open following an hour decant. The palate is smooth and viscous. There are flavors of blackberry pie, mocha, blueberry and violets. A lovely effort, with great terroir.
