This inky colored Shiraz is sourced from 100 year old vines. Winemaker and vigneron, Bill Calabria, has crafted an outstanding wine in this vintage. Aged in French oak for 18 months and then in the bottle for 12 months the wine is needing a one hour decant before becoming fully expressive. As it unwinds in the glass it begins with aromas of of blueberries, Asian spices, white pepper, black tea and anise all taking shape. The palate is viscous and intense, yielding flavors of blueberry compote, black tea, crushed mint and red cherry jam which are underlined with a touch of acidity as it builds up to the long finish.
