The 2014 Kamptal Grüner Veltliner from Loimer is a gorgeous effort. The grapes for this wine come from old vineyards around Langenlois and nearby areas such as Zöbing, Gobelsburg, Schiltern and Mollands. Both young and old vines for the wine grow mainly in loess and weathered gneiss soils. As this begins to open it releases pretty aromas of green apple, citrus zest, and minerals which all begin to take shape in the glass. On the palate this persicv, focused mineral driven wine is backed by wonderful acidity taking it into the fresh, bright finish. Overall this is wonderful effort by an outstanding producer.
