CHÂTEAU VALANDRAUD Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2011

The 2011 Château Valandraud is an excellent follow up to the last years incredible effort. It is incredibly dense, layered and concentrated with masses of sweetly ripened dark fruits along with vanilla, roasted coffee, leather, spices and crushed violets that cascade through the wine. The full, voluptious body is well polished and demonstrates remarkable depth. The finish is absolutely massive, leaving behind a generous coating of of dark fruit and spices that carry on and on. A superb job by Jean Luc Thunevin getting this kind of intense power and concentration in a vintage many consider as weak. (Best 2015-2030) - June, 2014 (JD)
