Nicolas Thienpont has been responsible for turning out some absolutely incredible wines over the recent years, and solidifying Pavie Macquin’s reputation as a top Château in Saint-Émilion. The 2014 is certainly no exception, as this sensational wine opens to beautifully nuanced aromas of black cherries and blackberries woven together with spices, graphite, minerals and tobacco accents all take shape in this compelling blend of 85% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc and 1% Cabernet Sauvignon. This continues to impress as it glides effortlessly across the palate with its gorgeous polished texture and remarkably well concentrated flavors which show excellent depth and focus through the finish. The 2014 is a complete success which should continue to age for years to come. Readers should not hesitate at the opportunity, as this is one of the best values from the vintage.
