The 2011 Domaine Santa Duc Gigondas ‘Prestige des Hautes Garrigues’ is a wonderful blend of 80 %, Grenache Vieilles Vignes (Old Grenache vines) 15 % Mourvèdre, 3% Syrah and 2% Cinsault. It delivers layers of black raspberries, plum reduction, hazelnut, chocolate, spices and a twist of licorice. This is full-bodied, encapsulating your palate with beautiful round, velvety tannins that will instantly win you over. It continues to show excellent balance and depth all the way into the decadent finish. The wine is accessible today, however for those who would like to wait, it will also continue drink well for years to come. (Best 2014-2026) - October 2014 (JD)
