CHÂTEAU MARGAUX 2008

In 2008 Château Margaux showed why it is such a special place, in a vintage with very few bright spots, Margaux was able to perform extreamly well, making a gorgeous wine of wonderful elegance and finesse. As it unwinds, aromas of dark cherries, plum, graphite, mineral and floral all come to life with each swirl of the glass. It is fine-tuned and possesses excellent structure and balance, showing remarkable focus all the way through the long finish. Château Margaux clearly sacrificed quantity for quality in 2008 only selecting a small fraction of their fruit for the first wine. Today, it is still a bit backwards and will need some additional time, but that being said, a great showing in a very unforgiving vintage. (Best 2016-2030) - June, 2014 (JD)
