CHÂTEAU GRAND-PUY-LACOSTE Pauillac 2012

CHÂTEAU GRAND-PUY-LACOSTE Pauillac 2012

The 2012 Grand-Puy-Lacoste is a beautifully crafted, elegant blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon and 24% Merlot by François-Xavier Borie, oenologist Christel Spinner and consulting oenologist Eric Boissenot. The vines at Grand-Puy-Lacoste are 38 years old and planted to deep coarse gravel soils in the heart of Pauillac. As this slowly opens it releases inviting aromatics of blackberries and dark currants woven together with smoldering tobacco, violets, spices and minerals all taking shape. The medium body is beautifully balanced with a lovely mineral streak through its core. The finish shows nice length, which leaves behind traces of black fruits, peppery spices and tobacco notes lingering. While the 2012 is already revealing some very appealing qualities, it should continue to evolve gracefully in the cellar for at least a decade.
