The 2015 ‘Vieilles Vignes’ Sancerre is another outstanding wine from Roger and Didier Raimbault which was sourced from old vines, which are deeply rooted into soils composed of clay and Kimmeridgian limestone on steep hillsides. The wine itself instantly bursts opens with fresh aromatics gooseberry, starfruit, blossoms and lemon zest followed by crushed stones and flinty undertones. On the palate this is elegant and refined, as it also displays wonderful textural richness as it remains beautifully balanced and precise through the finish. Overall, this is a gorgeous Sancerre which is impressive today, but will also continue to evolve and take on additional character over the next handful of years.
