This property, located in the Côtes de Francs appellation, is owned by a pair of some of the most accomplished individuals in Bordeaux; Dominique Hebrard, previously co-owner of Chateau Cheval Blanc, and Hubert de Boüard-owner and oenologist of Chateau Angélus. It was this 40-hectare vineyard planted on clay-limestone soils, which were similar to those on the Saint–Émilion plateau that lead them to purchase this Château. The 2012 Château de Francs is an absolutely wonderful effort, composed of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Merlot. This dark and brooding wine delivers aromas and flavors of currants and ripe dark plums woven together with loam, scorched earth, crushed stones, coffee and spices all seamlessly merging together. On the palate this is full-bodied and richly textured with notable depth. The finish is long and marked by dark fruits and spices. A wonderful value and an excellent achievement in this vintage.
