2015 TOP 100 WINES | Rank #67
The 2012 Domaine Lécheneaut Nuits-Saint Georges ‘Les Damodes’ is sourced from 60-70 year-old vines from a very special parcel on the slope just over Vosne-Romanée. This wine itself is absolutely sensational, offering striking aromas of blackberry and cherries woven together with smoke, savory herbs, exotic spices, hints of fresh ground coffee and a lovely earthy character. On the palate this is full and layered, with wonderful underlying acidity providing a terrific sense of vibrancy. It remains impeccably balanced and focused all the way though the beautiful long finish which lingers on. Today, this shows some extremely appealing characteristics after extended air contact, however this should really be something else as it evolves over the next two decades.
