Initial nose of barnyard, damp earth, leather and hints merde - very, funky! It smelled like a bloody steak, with hints of white pepper and extreme minerality. On the palate it showed dry bright red cherry flavors with good spiciness. There was white pepper and fresh flavors of crushed rocks in the background. The fruit got stronger and deeper as the wine sat in the glass. Fabulous minerality and great balance. Although this wine is great now, it could even last another decade! - August, 2013 (JR)
