Clos de l’Oratoire des Papes is a wonderful showing in 2013, delivering lots of savory aromas of roasted plums and cherries followed by lavender, violets, white pepper, spices, cocoa powder, dusty minerals and hints of licorice which all merge together in the glass. It continues to impress with its beautiful texture, which is supported by round tannins and a wonderful touch of underlying acidity which gives everything a nice push through the finish. Although this already shows some appealing characteristics, it will ultimately benefit from a few additional years of bottle age. (Best 2017-2025) - September, 2015 (JD)
