The 2014 'Les Safres' is a gorgeous showing in this vintage. This is composed of 95% Grenache, 5% Mourvèdre, Vaccarèse and Cinsault from vines 50 to 60 years old, planted to Sandy and safres soils (compact sand) located in 'Les Bédines'. It opens to lovely aromas of cherries and raspberries joined by exotic spices, dried floral and minerals. On the palate this is absolutely luxurious as it displays wonderful concentration and balance along with a silky, elegant texture leading into the lingering finish. While this is already quite impressive, it should continue to evolve in the cellar for years to come. (Best 2017-2030) - December, 2016 (JD)
