The 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape blanc is an outstanding wine, composed of 95% Roussanne and 5% Clairette, which opens to attractive aromatics of orchard fruits, honeysuckle, orange zest and mineral notes, which all follow suit on the palate. This displays an excellent rich texture with wonderful depth, underlined by lovely acidity leading into the lingering finish. Overall, this is a fantastic effort from Jean Marc Diffonty, which is already showing remarkably well, however I expect it to continue to evolve beautifully over the next decade.
