The 2015 ‘L’Immortelle’ Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a powerhouse of a wine. It begins with profound aromas of dark cherries and black plums which are woven together with damp soil, spices and bittersweet chocolate. On the palate this is full-bodied with impressive depth and concentration. The flavors of black fruits, spices and bittersweet chocolate continue to resonate on the palate as they are underlined by traces of minerality. Everything comes to an end on the long, layered finish which lingers on and on. This hedonistic Châteauneuf-du-Pape is not for the faint of heart and will likely be its best if allowed some more time in bottle for everything to settle in.
