The 2006 Grand Millésime is a simply riveting Champagne which is composed of 56% Pinot Noir sourced from vineyards in Ambonnay, Avenay, Aÿ-Champagne, Chignyles-Roses ans Louvois along with 44% Chardonnay from Avize, Cramant, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Trépail and Vertus. This elegant styled Champagne instantly opens with striking aromas of fresh sliced apples, poached pear, lemon zest, white floral, toasted hazelnut and oyster shells all talking shape beautifully in the glass. This continues to impress with remarkable balance and complexity, while showing wonderful intensity as it enters the precise finish, which is laced with streaks of saline infused minerals. While the 2006 is already extremely appealing it should also continue to drink well for years to come. (Best 2016-2026) - March, 2016 (JD)
