The 2012 Brunello di Montalcino is an excellent effort from Marco Lazzeretti in this vintage. This instantly opens with profound aromas of dried black cherries and plum, which are woven together with leather, exotic spices and cedar. On the palate this full-bodied Brunello possesses a wonderful round, silky texture which demonstrates remarkable balance and structure leading into the long, persistent finish. This is already showing exceptionally well and at this stage may even be better than the excellent 2010. Marco Lazzeretti is certinaly a producer to keep your eye on as he is producing some absolutely outstanding wines which should not be missed. (Best 2017-2026) - February, 2017 (JD)
