The Uccelliera estate is located in Montalcino's southern zone of Castelnuovo dell’Abate, and has earned the reputation for their outstanding Brunello, which is consistently amongst the most impressive wines from the region. The 2012 is no exception, as Andrea Cortonesi as crafted another magnificent Brunello, which slowly opens to aromas of dark cherries and plum, along with dried exotic spices, dried floral, orange peel, mineral and hints of old leather. On the palate this is medium to full-bodied and well structured with a silky, polished frame that expands beautifully on to a long, spice-tinged finish. While this is already extremely appealing now, it should continue to evolve and become even more compelling over the course of the next decade. (2019-2030) - February, 2017 (JD)
