In 2011, for the first time ever, Domenico Clerico decided to only release a Barolo “Classico” using the production from his single vineyards of Briccotto, Ciabot Mentin and Pajana. As this begins to open, it releases seductive aromas of fresh cherries and strawberries, which are followed by freshly crushed floral, licorice, smoke and hints of mint. This is beautifully structured and layered, ending with a long and polished finish which leaves behind a mouthful of juicy red fruits lingering. This is already quite appealing, and should only continue to get better as it develops over the next decade. (Best 2016-2028) - May, 2015 (JD)
