2015 TOP 100 WINES | Rank #3
The Le Vigne is a simply brilliant showing in 2011. It is comprised from a blend of vineyards consisting of Merli, Baudana, Vignane, and for the first time, the addition of Villero. The aromas are absolutely seductive, offering ripe cherries and blackberries woven together with licorice, sweet spices, spring florals, white truffle and earthy minerals which all come together and soar from the glass. The Le Vigne impresses with its striking purity, elegance and finesse, along with its excellent overall balance, precision and depth. This does not miss beat from start to finish and is clearly one of the finest examples of Barolo you will find in 2011. Although this is extremely appealing today, readers may want to consider allowing this some additional time to further develop. (Best 2018-2036) - July, 2015 (JD)
