The 2012 'Margheria' Barolo instantly bursts open with wonderful aromas of ripe dark cherries and raspberries woven together with licorice, mint, mineral, a hint of leather and an attractive floral character. On the palate it is beautifully structured with fine silky, tannins and displays remarkable balance and finesse. It continues to impress with its incredible polished texture as it expands beautifully onto the finish. Today, the Margheria seems as if will need a bit more time than any other of Pira’s wines in this vintage, but that being said there is a lovely future ahead. (Best 2018-2030) - June, 2016 (JD)
