This gorgeous Barolo comes from the Ravera cru in Novello, which is situated on a south-west facing hill and composed of calcareous-clay soils. The 2012 is a simply dazzling effort from Vietti, as it instantly impresses with its remarkable purity and sheer elegant personality. As the wine slowly opens, it delivers beautiful aromas of fresh red berries, floral and minerals along with exotic spices and hints of eucalyptus. On the palate Ravera continues to be a thing of beauty, displaying excellent overall structure, balance and remarkable focus as it heads into the refined finish. This is a beautiful age-worthy Barolo, which ultimately has the potential to be the most compelling wine from Vietti in this vintage, however it will require some serious patience before it will be at its best.
