The 2001 Brunate - Le Coste is an absolutely magnificent traditional style of Barolo from Giuseppe Rinaldi. This opens to pretty aromatics of cherries and red berries laced with violets, licorice, tar, balsamic and spices, which all take shape in the glass. This is medium-bodied, beautifully balanced and structured with a gorgeous silky texture and lovely underlying acidity. The finish is long and pretty, with notes of berries, spices and a chocolate-licorice character, which continue to linger effortleson sly. Giuseppe Rinaldi is a true master when it comes to classic, age worthy Barolo and today, after 15 years, this is only in the early to mid stages of its evolution, and looks to still have a long future ahead.
