The 2013 La Calende Barolo is a diamond in the rough. This lovely Barolo opens to inviting aromatics of dried cherries and strawberries woven together with leather, dried rose petals, licorice, minerals and a touch of cedar adding further complexity. On the palate this is refined, well balanced and beautifully structured around fine grained tannins, which grip a firm hold on the dry, yet silky finish. a lovely Barolo which is certainly appealing now, yet shows the potential to evolve over the next decade.
