FRANK CORNELISSEN Rosso 'MunJebel VA' 2013

The 2013 Vigne Alte is not a single vineyard wine, but a blend from Frank Cornelissen's 4 highest elevation Crus which include predominantly Tartaraci along with Barbabecchi, Monte Dolce, Zocco Nero. The high elevation of these vineyards together with the ungrafted 90-year-old vines give allow for a remarkable elegant and refined character that will instantly win you over. As this gorgeous Nerello Mascalese unwinds in the glass it begines to release beautiful aromas of fresh raspberries and wild berries are followed by fresh violets, smoldering ash and crushed stones. This is beautifully structured around fine, silky tannins and continues to impress with is brilliant focus and precision as it heads into the vibrant finish. The 'Vigne Alte’ shows incredible potential, but will likely require the most bottle age of these 2013 releases from Frank Cornelissen. (Best 2020-2036) - April, 2015 (MD)
