The 2013 Santo Spirito is an absolutely gorgeous wine composed of Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio from vines between 40 and 100-years-old planted to deep black, volcanic rich soils on the northern slope of Mount Etna. In 2013 Santo Spirito is all about finesse and elegance. As this slowly opens it begins to display lovely aromas of wild red berries, fresh cassis, rose petal and mineral. On the palate this is beautifully balanced supported by a gorgeous fine, silky texture and a clean precise finish. Today, this elegant Rosso is already showing fantastic, but I only expect to evolve over the next decade and gain further complexity. (Best 2016-2029) - July, 2015 (JD)
