The 2014 ‘MunJebel PA’ is a simply gorgeous old-vine Nerello Mascalese from 60-year-old vines in the Porcaria cru, which is situated at 640 meters above sea level in the contrada Feudo di Mezzo. As this begins to unwind in the glass it releases lovely aromatics of fresh cherries, rose petal and crushed stones, followed by fresh violets, exotic spices and hints of dark chocolate. This is a beautifully structured wine, with remarkable overall depth and focus. It continues to impress as it displays an excellent balance of elegance and strength, as it heads into the long and expansive finish. While the pedigree and sheer class is already quite evident, this will need some patience, as it will surely continue to evolve over the next decade and beyond. (Best 2020-2033) - November, 2016 (MD)
