The 2015 Morellino di Scansano is a blend of 85% Sangiovese, 10% Alicante and 5% Malvasia Nero which opens to aromas of cherries and plums woven together with tobacco, spices leather and hints of dried floral all taking shape. On this palate this is medium-bodied and refined with a velvery texture and nice underlying acidity balancing it out. The finish lingers with flavors of cherries, spices and fresh cut floral stems. This Morellino di Scansano would benefit nicely from another year in bottle and should continue to show well over the next 5 years or so. (Best 2018-2024) - May, 2017 (JD)
