This wine is one for the cellar and while excellent is somewhat overshadowed by the enthralling 2012 Riserva. This wine begins with aromas of mushroom, red cherry and lavender. The Chianti has flavors of red cherry, raspberry, cigar box and orange rind, alongside lithe minerality. The structure and gritty tannins are very prominent at this juncture. This is needing a lot of time for the flavors and tannins to develop. (Best 2018-2025) - January, 2016 (OB)
