The 2013 Montecucco Riserva 'Poggio Lombrone' from ColleMassari is showing extreamly well upon release. It instantly bursts open with aromas of ripe blackberries and dried dark cherries along with leather, tobacco and hints of raisins. On the palate this is round and velvety, with excellent balance as it seamlessly transitions on to the finish where the flavors continues to linger. This will be a wonderful Sangiovese to drink now, or watch evolve over the next few years. (Best 2017-2023) - February, 2017 (JD)
