The Arneis vine can be a difficult grape to cultivate, with naturally low acidity and tendency to get over ripe. However you would never know judging from this bottle. The 2011 Bruno Giacosa Roero Arneis is outstanding, instantly pulling you in with aromas of freshly sliced jazz apples, white peaches, lemon curd, acacia flower and stony minerals. This is a richly textured wine with lovely balance and focus ending with a beautiful clean vibrant finish. Arneis historical role has been as a softening for Nebbiolo, though today the grape is more commonly seen as a varietal wine and this is a fantastic example of how good it can be.
