ZENATO Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 2011

The 2011 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico from Zenato is a blend of 80% Corvina, 10% Rondinella and 10% Oseleta. The grapes are placed in cases in a well-ventilated room to raisin for 3-4 months prior to the winemaking process. As far as the wine itself, as it begins to unwind in the glass it releases wonderful aromas of blackberries, dark cherries and dried plums, followed by complex notes of leather, dried floral, pepper and hints of chocolate which all come together in this beautifully made Amarone. On the plate this is absolutely delightful, full-bodied, velvety and very well-balanced with a long, expressive finish. This is a fantastic Amarone from the Zenato family and even at this youthful age is already extremely appealing. (Best 2017-2030) - January, 2016 (JD)
