The 2007 Casanova di Neri Pietradonice is absolutely gorgeous, displaying the rich terrior of Montalcino. Notes of pure black fruits, cassis, pain grille, mineral and tobacco leaf are just a few things that leap from the glass. This has elegance and power, which I love, and in my opinion is something only found in a truly great wine. It's full bodied, polished and layered with refined tannins leading to the long finish that has tons of traction letting the fruit linger on an on. Giacomo Neri consistently produces some of the very best wines in Montalcino and this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon is another one to add to his list. (Drink 2012-2025) - January, 2012 (JD)
