The 2009 Tenuta di Trinoro 'Le Cupole' is a stunning wine, the fruit is ripe and vivid, bringing layers of fresh blackberries, dark cherries, smoke, tomato, pain grille, tar and dried tobacco. It shows excellent concentration and depth of flavor, structured around beautiful polished tannins that burst on the finish and grip hold, leaving behind juicy dark fruits and tobacco flavors to linger effortlessly. This fantastic blend consisting of 40% Cabernet franc, 30% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Verdot was aged 8 months in 2nd, 3rd and 4th passage French oak barriques; 10 months in cement, no filtration. Just a phenomenal showing for the Le Cupole and a wine that without question deserves your attention. (Best 2013-2023) - April, 2013 (JD)
