The 2010 ‘Scipio’ is made from 100% Cabernet Franc sourced from hillside vineyards surrounded by the lush woods of Monteverdi Marittimo, between Bolgheri and Castagneto Carducci, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. As this instantly bursts open in the glass, it releases aromas of blackberries and dark cherries, which are woven together with graphite, spring floral, fresh minerals and coconut shavings. On the palate this is structured around fine velvety tannins, which make for an elegant texture with wonderful balance and finesse through the finish. This is already showing excellent and should also continue to develop further with some additional bottle age. Aged in French Oak for 24 months, followed by an additional 12 months in bottle. 333 cases made. (Best 2015-2027) - October, 2015 (JD)
