The 2015 Ribeca is made from Firriato’s own clone of Perricone, which is a rare endangered grape variety in the region. It is grown in the Pianoro Cuddìa Estate where the conditions are extremely windy with dry soils which is ideal for the Perricone vine to bring out its full character. The wine itself is fantastic, with unique aromatics beginning with dark cherries and blackberries which are woven together with exotic spices, pepper, licorice and hints of sweet oak. This plate is just as impressive, offering a gorgeous plush texture with wonderful overall balance and a lovely sense of freshness leading to the velvety finish. The 2015 Ribeca is already excellent and it also has the potential to evolve beautifully over the course of the next decade.
