The 2014 Santagostino Baglio Sorìa is an excellent showing in this vintage. This rosso is composed of Nero d’Avola and Syrah which is grown on the Baglio Sorìa Estate in the Trapani countryside of Western Sicily. The wine itself instantly impresses with its aromatics of dark cherries and wild berries that are woven together with dried exotic spices, earth, olive, tobacco and roasted herbs all coming together in the glass. The palate is medium to full, with a lovely soft round texture and excellent structure that continues into the long finish. This is a wonderful wine to approach now, however it should also offer a drinking window that spans for at least a decade.
