The 2015 ‘Passi di Orma’ meaning ’Steps from Orma’ is the first release of the estate’s second wine, which is composed of 40% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Cabernet Franc which comes from vines averaging 15 years. This was aged in 225L French barriques for 6 months followed by an additional 6 months in bottle. As this begins to open it releases profound aromas of blackberries and cassis woven together with vanilla, sweet spices, violets and tobacco. On the palate this possesses a full body with a nicely polished frame and notable overall balance. It continues to display flavors of dark cherries and sweet spices, also adding in a chocolate character as it heads into the velvety finish. This is an impressive showing, however this is still at an early point in its evolution and it will benefit from another few years in bottle to take on some more mature characteristics.
