Although Quinta do Crasto was founded in 1615, there is nothing old about this modern style red blend which comes from the acre estate. This wine is a blend of Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional and weighs in at14.5%. Winemakers Manuel Lobo and Tomás Roquette take on this value project red that is a wonderful success. The wine opens with aromas reminiscent of violets, blueberry cobbler, blackberry and smoke. The red blend has a dense core and rich flavors of mocha, smoked meats, blueberry pie and black cherry. There is a strong mineral backbone to complement the richness. The blend is a huge production wine, some 68,00 cases made, so this should be easy to find. (Best 2015-2022) - November, 2015 (OB)
