Sourced from the Upper Hemel-en-Aarde, this Chardonnay was aged largely in French oak (60%) and concrete eggs (40%) for 14 months prior to bottling. The wine opens with a bouquet of nutmeg with bright pear and toasty brioche aromatics that all build in the glass. The palate is lithe, showing a soft texture backed by flavors of lemon curd, honeydew melon, and vanilla crème which marvelously come together in the glass. Showing a fantastic combination of verve and weight, this is delighful now and should continue to show beautifully with additional bottle age as well.
