EIRA DOS MOUROS Red Wine 2015

A blend of Souson, Caino Longo and Brancellao that was aged in stainless steel for 11 months and then bottle aged for four months prior to release. Having an ultra-dark core, this wine opens with a bouquet of black plum, black cherry, graphite and hints of leather and eucalyptus. There is a smoky edge to this wine as well, showing accents of smoked brisket and creosote. The palate is plush, currently displaying rich flavors of grenadine, orange rind, black plum, leather and wet stone. The minerality is lovely. As good as this wine is out of the bottle, the structure suggests some short-term aging. (Best 2017-2025) - March, 2017 (OB)
