This utterly compelling Pinot Noir from Sandhi comes from the legendary Sanford and Benedict vineyard in the Santa Rita Hills. As this pure, elegant expression of Pinot Noir begins to open, it releases intoxicating aromas of fresh bing cherries, raspberries and exotic spice elements layered with fresh cut mint leaves, lovely soil tones, clove and rose petals. On the palate this shows excellent focus, remarkable structure backed by a sappy core of fruits which lead to the long, vibrant finish. Today, this is already showing exceptionally well, but this will still benefit from a few more years of bottle age before it hits full-stride. (Best 2016-2026) - May, 2015 (MD)
