The 2015 ‘Block M’ Pinot Noir is an absolutely stunning showing from Melville in the vintage. Block M is situated atop a sun exposed mesa, where you will find an equal amount of clones 114 and 115. The extreme proximity of Block M is enhanced by the gravitational pull on three exposed sides forcing the roots dig deep into the botella clay soils. The wine begins with vivid aromatics reminiscent of black cherry and black raspberry liquor. Along with wild mushrooms and peat moss. The palate is well rich and well defined, with ripe flavors of black tea, black cherries, mint and a striking salinity. Overall, this is simply gorgeous wine that will cellar well for a decade or more. (Best 2017-2028) - August, 2017 (OB)
