The 2013 'Intrepid' Syrah is an absolutely sensational release from Law Estate. This opaque, inky colored wine opens with gorgeous aromatics reminiscent of cherry reduction, pipe tobacco, tar and dark chocolate. There are concentrated flavors of blackberry jam, crème de cassis, anise, mocha and cigar box all cascading across the palate. The depth and richness on the mid-palate contributes to the wonderful mouthfeel on this complex Syrah. I can see this wine evolving beautifully with just some short-term cellaring, but even at its current stage it is exceedingly delightful. (Best 2016-2027) - June, 2016 (OB)
