ETUDE Pinot Noir 'Heirloom' 2013

This delicious wine comes from the Grace Benoist Ranch in Carneros. The winemaker chose smaller, ripe berries for this wine. The grapes were hand picked at night during harvest and the wine was aged for 13 months in French oak prior to bottling. This wine opens with aromas reminiscent of Bing cherry, boysenberry, Christmas spice and oak. There are flavors of dill, cherry compote, pomegranate, mushroom and raspberry with a striking minerality. This has a nice balance between fruit and structure with a nice rich mouthfeel. This sturdy, yet mineral driven Pinot will age gracefully into the next decade but is delicious straight out of the bottle and hard to resist right now. (Best 2015-2027) - November, 2015 (OB)
