The 2001 Robert Mondavi Winery 'Reserve' Cabernet shows all the grace and poise of this incredible vintage in Napa. More than 15 years after its release, it is a gorgeous showing. The wine is comprised of 50% To Kalon Vineyard fruit and nearly all Oakville fruit. The resultant wine is a blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, 1% Malbec, and 1% Petit Verdot. The wine begins with aromas reminiscent of black cherry, anise, creme de cassis and crushed wet rock. The tannins have mellowed considerably through the mid-palate, yielding wonderful rich flavors of Turkish coffee grounds, blackberry cobbler, dark chocolate shavings and graphite.
