RAMEY WINE CELLARS Chardonnay, Ritchie Vineyard 2014

The Ritchie Vineyard is a widely spaced vineyard in Russian River Valley, first planted in 1972 and utilizes old Wente clones. The 2014 saw 30% new French oak for 19 months prior to bottling as well as consistent battonage. This shows off aromas of Meyer lemon oil, grapefruit blossom and wild mushroom accents. The weight and texture is quite impressive, as this delivers flavors of orchard fruits with crème brûlée and pineapple, which all persist through the long finish. This is a spectacular bottling by David Ramey which will continue to drink marvelously over the next decade. (Best 2017-2030) - December, 2017 (OB)
