2013 Top 100 - Rank # 6
The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain from O’Shaughnessy is absolutely remarkable, the menacing dark, inky, opaque color is followed by aromas and flavors of ripe blackberry and sweet dark current layered in graphite, herbs, mint, mocha, crushed violets and dusty minerals. This is so juicy, supple and wonderfully balanced from start to finish with incredible depth, concentration and focus. The finish is laced with dark fruits, graphite, chocolate and herbs that seem to carry-on forever. This is beyond delicious, extremely approachable and hands down one of the best cabernet's I have tasted from the vintage. Betty O’Shaughnessy and winemaker Sean Capiaux have composed this outstanding wine from 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot, 3% Malbec, 2% Petit Verdot, 2% St. Macaire. (Best 2013-2030) - November, 2013 (JD)
