The 2006 Mayacamas Merlot is outstanding, offering a mix of cassis and red berries which are ripe and juicy, followed by notes of spices, smoke, minerals along with herbs and licorice that make for an amazingly complex character. A lovely balance of fruit and acidity is supported by a well-structured frame. It finishes up clean, focused and long. 17% Cabernet Sauvignon was added to the Merlot to make up the final blend.
